PLATONICA EROTICA MARRIAGE OF CONVENIENCE

Having bubbled on our radar for a little while now, New Jersey-born, (now) London-based songwriter Platonica Erotica has stepped into her own with 'Marriage Of Convenience'. The educated offering (out now via Slow Dance) drips with high-brow cultural references from Gone With The Wind to the philosophical musings of Socrates, whilst contemplating a grandiose relationship gone wrong. Projecting a persona older than her years, the timeless-sounding piece churchy organs emphasise the traditional wedding vibes, whilst the lyrics seethe with dark humour. Arriving alongside a well-matched black and white video directed by Emma Parkinson, Platonica Erotica's open embrace of her quirks has truly caught our attention. -Holly Mullineaux
